If you want to identify me, ask me not where I live, or what I like to eat, or how I comb my hair, but ask me what I think I am living for, in detail, and ask me what I think is keeping me from living fully the thing I want to live for. Between these two answers you can determine the identity of any person. Thomas Merton
Welcome to my island in the ocean! Er, I mean, my oasis in the desert. Where. As Emily Bronte would have it, I’ll walk where my own nature would be leading.
As for my blog name, well, Desert Moon is a favorite song of my husband. I hear it whenever I step into the car. Plus, I see the waxing and waning of the desert moon whenever I walk around town. Also, do you know that the Muslim calendar is a lunar one and that Ramadan is based on sightings of the moon? Then again, I do a lot of my musings writing by the light of the desert moon.
I will write a thousand words
in ink upon my hand
and I will read a thousand books
to try to understand
and I will post a thousand poems
in the hope that one
will be read and remembered
when my life is done.
